"We Don''t Care What #Europe Thinks": #Trump & #Vance Humiliate #NATO Secretary #MarkRutte On #Greenland
Trump is intentionally destroying our economy and those of our #NATO allies. He's doing Putin's bidding.
Thanks to @NatureMC (https://mastodon.online/@NatureMC/114160779335185317), we discovered Postcrossing, a nice online platform for sending and receiving postcards.
This platform was founded in 2005 in Portugal by Paulo Magalhaes .
He loved receiving postcards and letters in his mailbox, but didn't know how to make it happen, so he created Postcrossing as a side project.
20 years later, more than 80 million real postcards have been sent through the platform!
Postcrossing has more than 800.000 members from all over the world!
It's free and incredibly simple to participate: you just need to subscribe, get a random address, send a postcard to this person and when they receive it, they must indicate that in the platform.
After that, your address will be randomly sent to someone else, and a few days later, you'll receive a surprise postcard in your mailbox!
So why not stop scrolling and go send a postcard of your city or country to someone, anywhere in the world?
It is nice to see that a growing number of people are becoming aware of Arte TV for the first time.

We told you that the service is free, but this is only partially accurate.
It is a public service broadcaster funded by French and German taxpayers.
The source of payment differs between France and Germany.
In France, people used to pay around €140 per year to finance public broadcasters. This tax was abolished in 2022, and the funding of public broadcasters comes from VAT now, an indirect tax that applies to most goods and services.
In Germany, a flat rate of €18.36 per month is paid by each household, ensuring that the entire population contributes to the funding of public broadcasters like Arte.
Some programmes are translated into other European languages, with funding support from the European Union (English, Spanish, Polish, and Italian).
For more detailed information on the funding mechanisms, see the following link: https://www.arte.tv/sites/corporate/en/funding/
Thanks to the French and German
taxpayers!
Danke, merci !

I can't say that this is a bad idea... but the debt will probably go through the roof.

"Looking at Germany, the largest market for EVs in the E.U., the country saw a 30% year-over-year rise in electric vehicle sales in February, but Tesla sales were down more than 70% compared to last year—less than 1,500 new Teslas were registered in the country in February.
Other European countries also saw sales fall. Between January and February of 2025, Tesla recorded a 50% drop in sales in Portugal and 45% in France according to Reuters, while sales fell 42% in Sweden and 48% in Norway.
Sales are falling outside of Europe as well. In Australia, data from the Electric Vehicle Council shows that Tesla sales dropped over 70% compared to last year— recording just 1,592 sales in February compared to 5,665 in February 2024, the Guardian reports.
Meanwhile, Tesla shipments from China dropped 49% in February, as the automaker shipped out 30,688 vehicles—the lowest monthly figure since July 2022, according to Bloomberg. Tesla has faced growing competition from domestic EV makers in the country—Chinese automaker BYD sold more than 318,000 electric and hybrid cars last month, a 161% increase from last year.
In California—the biggest domestic market for EVs thanks to its state mandate that 35% of new 2026 car models sold by automakers must be zero emissions—Tesla sales slumped for the fifth consecutive quarter, according to the latest data from the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA)."

#rachelReeves got provoked by #kemiBadenoch into worshipping the black zero. That's really bad economics and precisely what gives #China the advantage over #Europe and the #UK. Essential services are, well, essential, and they are growth drivers, as is well proven by plenty of scientific evidence.
Just a question: US laws and decisions do not apply in other countries, so it's just an American problem (stealing material, that is)?
Otherwise the European lawmakers should turn up their, already strict and protecting, regulations about this problem.

I wonder how much progress the #fediverse could have and grow in quality if the @EUCommission could seriously fund good non-profit projects that already make an interoperable web possible: @Mastodon , @pixelfed , @pleroma , @peertube , @gotosocial etc.
There are talks about BILLIONS of euros to rearm Europe, which seems justified to me. But it seems that no one puts on the table how to seriously address the problem of disinformation campaigns that undermine democracies. I found the EU project EU vs Disinfo https://euvsdisinfo.eu/, but they didn't dare to create at least a profile here.
Let's perpetuate the cycle of walled gardens run by cool tech bros and their profit seeking businesses. It is very comfortable.
Tonight, I came across quite a frightening map - a journalist project tracking the concentration of "forever chemicals" in Europe.
On the bright side though, we can fry our chicken nuggets and be unafraid of scrubbing the pan afterward, huh?
